Shrink pot container - Green

A shrink pot or box is a design often found in Scandinavia used for the storage of food items. They work really well for tea, coffee, sugar etc. and brighten up a kitchen with the milk painted exteriors. They are made by hollowing sections of green wood, which shrink around a fitted dry section of wood in the base, creating a really tight fit. Then a special lid is made incorporating an inner section of wood that matches the interior and locks into place when twisted. A little finial finishes them off. I love making these.

This one is 16cm high and 11.5cm in Diameter. Teabags will fit nicely and be kept dry and protected. A Green and Brown shade of non toxic milk paint have been applied over the Alder wooden container and Pine lid. Finished in cold pressed linseed oil, only on the outside.
